Assistantships
Teaching and research assistantships are available within the IET department. The
assignment of assistantships is largely determined by three factors.
1) The teaching expertise needed within the department during any
given semester.
2) Industrial grants that are available.
3) The training and expertise of the applying graduate students.
There are many request for assistantships each year. The department is able to fund
only a few. The best opportunities for an assistantship develop after a student has
been in the department for at least one semester. At that time it is much easier to
match students who seek assistantships with industrial grant opportunities that become
available.
When making inquires regarding assistantships, please include a detailed resume
representing the undergraduate area of study, and a letter outlining experience in
teaching and / or industry.
