I am thrilled and delighted to present my play to the ABA. Some of my
fondest memories are of those afternoons spent with my mother and her
friends around the bridge table.
The setting of The Bridge Party is the meeting of an African American
women’s bridge club in the South of the 1940s. The play dramatizes the
ways in which these women deal with the racism of the era while still
maintaining their dignity and sense of self.
